hey,

I was completely impressed by the rock version
of "I can hear your heartbeat", he played on his farewell
tour. Does anyone have a live recording of that wonderful song?
I would be very pleased....

greetings :D

I can tell you that there is an "official " Live version - an "edit" from the Montreaux Jazz Festival ( 1984 ? ) which was on the b-side of a 7 inch Vinyl single ( remember them ? ).

I have a copy and the catalogue number is :
MAG 269 - on Magnet Records.

It is the b side to the sinlge - Ace of Hearts - taken from the 1984 Album - Wired to the Moon.

It is actually a sort of Jazz / Funk version that fades in, lasts about 4 minutes and then fades out - but still a great sound.

you may find a copy of this a a record Fair or from a dealer or try e-bay !

I'm keeping my copy !

However it would be an interesting mission to get all this old stuf from vinyl, loaded on to a website.

Otherwise, I think it willl have to be bootleg stuff you will get.

Good luck.[/b]

Hello to you,

If I may add a few words to what was already said....

The live version of "I Can Hear Your Heartbeat" from the Montreux Festival, from 1986, lasts for seven minutes and eighteen seconds! (7:18.)
It's cut # 7 on the "unofficial" "Dancing Shoes" (Flashback Records), Flashback 02.92.0173.
I don't have the live vinyl version, apparently shortened but taken from the same live session.
In 1986, there was this 3 inch single CD published by East West (Warner) with two versions of "I Can Hear Your Heartbeat" (cut #1 and cut #3), but neither of them was a "live" version. This four cut CD was titled "I Can Hear Your Heartbeat" and both songs were in a up-bit disco style, with the second one recorded as an "extended mix."

Therefore, so far, there were at least four (4) different versions of this particular song originally issued on the "Water Sign" album (CD), back in (P) 1983, and (C) in 1984, by Magnet Records.

The new live version would be, by any count, the fifth one, yet to be published in early September, as I read someplace...
Take care,
Chris

thanks for your help!
I was born in 1986 consequently I have neither a record player
nor old vinyl singles
I simply thought somebody recorded it with a digital camera
-can't remember it was forbidden at the concert!!
Seems as if I have to wait for the tour DVD...
