Well, besides Chris I listen to:
-Joe Cocker; one of blues' viceroys - I saw him in concert, too, awesome experience. His new album Hymn 4 My Soul beats the clock!
-Eric Clapton; pioneer of blues, just can't get round him
-Bryan Adams; daredevil of rock - I saw him twice and can't get enough
-Bruce Springsteen; he's simply The Boss
-Tina Turner; she's 'simply the best'
-Meat Loaf; one of the most powerful voices of rock history and a great performer
-Anastacia; remember, R'n'B used to mean rhythm and
blues
-AC/DC; the masters
-The Rolling Stones; the gods, they were in Budapest last summer and they almost broke the house down
-Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler; well, he's Hungarian
, performer of very fine, soulful music
-Elton John; he's a virtuoso, makes fantastic live gigs
-Johnny Cash; a pioneer, too, he can't be categorized - they say he played country but listen to his American Recordings!
-Rod Stewart; an other smoky voice, he can 'make himself home' in each and every style of music
This is my list in short.
And, of course, Chris Rea... Blue Guitars is definitely Number 1! I've also listened to his previous recordings lately; it was great to re-discover albums like 'Espresso Logic', 'Dancing with Strangers' and 'God's Great Banana Skin' where his blues-roots came to surface and his label couldn't put them back, if you know what I mean.
I heard some samples from the Earbook and saw a few videos of the tour, too, so I can't wait seeing him again on Monday night. Countdown!
Chris
