Blue Guitars was such an amazing work it's easy to forget about great tracks like this.
I said when it came out that I'd almost prefer to get 1 a month so I could absorb each before moving on.
But like a GREEDY pig i listened to each CD one after the other.
Worth listening to the whole work again.

I agree, I re-listened to Blue Guitars couple of months ago and found some new tracks I like :)
Indeed, this was a great work of CR, commercial success isn't a good estimate here.

Rea in Vienna:

Location: Stadthalle F (2.036 seats, not sold-out, but almost full, I would say at least 1.900 people were there)

Setlist:
1. I Can't Wait for Love
2. Work Gang
3. Where The Blues Comes From
4. Josephine
5. Easy Rider
6. Til The Mornign Sun Shines On My Love And Me
7. Looking for The Summer
8. Julia
9. Stony Road
10. Electric Guitar
11. Come so Far, Yet Still So far To Go
12. Somewhere Between Highway 61 And 49
13. Stainsby Girl
14. The Road To Hell 1+2
----
15. On The Beach
16. Let's Dance

Comments:
I was quite skeptical (all-seater-arena, what a stupid idea for a rock-concert), but nevertheless the concert was really worth watching.

After I've missed Casey's warm-up show (who could expect that the concert would start exactly on time as written on the ticket?), the concert started at 20:40. As expected the first few songs were ok but not more, and the response from the audience luke-warm (once again: what a stupid idea to do a concert in an all-seater-arena).

That all changed with Easy Rider, or to be exactly, with the guitar-solo during the second half of the song. The audience woke up, the band did so too, and the rest of the concert was really amazing, exept for Looking For The Summer, one of my favourite Rea songs, but somehow (I can't really tell why) it doesn't work live.
Julia was player faster than on previous tours, the solo during Stony Road was breathtaking, Come So Far sounds live much better than the studio version, and Stainsby Girl was abolutely amazing.

After the regular set Rea got a well deserved standing ovation and during the encores nobody stayed on his or her seats. During Let's Dance Rea told a little story about a visit at a disco. I don't know if he does it everytime, but it was quite entertaining and besides it's nice when Rea talks more to the audience (apart from that story he only said 2 or 3 times Dankeschön).

Although the audience kept on giving standing ovations after the last encore endlessly Rea didn't come back for one more. What a pity....

What I really liked (apart from these really astonishing guitar solos) was Ditcham's druming, which was, from my point of view, a little bit harder and on the edgier side, and suited the songs quite well.

Disapointing was that Casey's guitar was almost unhearable and for most of the concert he looked like a statue on stage doing nothing. It would have been nice to get him a more prominet role.
The other thing was the price for the ticket: I've got mine as a christmas present, otherwise I would'nt have bought one. 95 Euro (no joke) for a seat which was by far not the best and also not the most expensive one is simply too much.

Yeah, good drum sound is always good thing, drums should really have some balls in the sound.
I think this Casey character is rather vain guy in this tour. He doesn´t seem to have anything to offer and these kinds of reviews confirms that. Only Chris knows why he is in this tour in the first place. Casey, go home.
Too many good words to add here.

Paul casey is a great guitar player. As is Robert Ahwai. Both technically way better than Chris. But still, Chris is the star of the evening. As I see it, it's a bunch of guys up there enjoying themselves playing Chris' songs.
And this way Paul gets a little bit more attention. It's hard enough for great musicians like that to even go on tour over Europe. And I think Paul appreciates it tremendously...

So Mr. Blues, why don't you go home...

Because it's a pity that great musicians get bashed this way. It's really sad..

I´m home already :)

World is full of great guitarists, but that is not enough if you are good technically, if you don´t have personal and powerful own thing it doesn´t get you too far. Chris shines with slide guitar and singing voice which is one of the greatest around Europe. So far I haven´t got nothing out of Casey, maybe someone does, but for me he doesn´t have nothing to offer. Sure it´s good for him to get around Europe with Chris, tell me one less known musician who doesn´t think that way? :)
