You can be sure that Warner will not have taken Chris back without some assurances about the new material.
They won't want something like Road to Hell II again.

If it is to be in his new style, it will not be anything like the last earbook - more like Stony Road or Blue Jukebox.
"Accessible" will have to be an underlying feature. Warner are not in this for artistic reasons.
Agree, they are trying to milk new hits from Chris I guess...
And there must be some compromises done too....
Just hope that Warner is the one who is doing compromises, not Chris...

For those interested: samples from the 'Come So Far, Still So Far To Go' compilation album, including 'Valentino':

Well, we were right when we thought that Valentino would be a ballad, it's on the style of La Passione. That's funny that all the hots should be remastered, but the previews give old versions. Or do they mean just remastered, not re-recorded? If the new versions will be really good (not as they were on "Fool if you think it's over" compilation), I could consider buying the new CD!
Thanks a lot for the link!

It´s been said from the beginning that the tracks will be RE-MASTERED, not re-recorded.
When did you thought it would be other way around?
For me it´s same which way it is, not going to get this best off collection.

For me Valentino doesn´t sound that interesting, but it might change after hearing the full song.
Style of this song is for me "old style" Rea and I don´t really need him going back to that direction.

Well, I was just hoping, maybe.
Valentino preview didn't sound so interesting to me either.

The songs will just be remastered... And I must say I like both new songs; can't wait to hear Velentino in full :?

Others with a more critical ear may tell me differently but on my hearing of the new album there is not much difference with selecting the track from the appropriate original album and listening to it ( with the exception of course of the 2 new songs) I don't know what digitally re-mastered does to an album but to me they sound the same. New Times Square seems to be the Manhattan Mix and the standards are the same as they appear on the original albums, so no updates for Josephine et al.

I would venture to suggest "disappointing" as a follow up to TROTFHBN but can only think that it's a compromise for what maybe is to come in 2010 and beyond from Chris. I look forward to the tour and the expectation that there will be an interpretation of the classics that is not on the album.

Well, I got now those two new songs (still won´t touch to that collection).

Come So Far... is good midtempo bluesy song, it ain´t no masterpiece but still good one.

Valentino, is song that makes you sleepy and it would be best to hear when you got problems
to get sleep. Could fit to some movie soundtrack, La Passione kind of way. But I don´t
like this song, it really doesn´t move me at all, vain song with no meaning to me.

And then we get to the final statement, you would have to be insane to buy 20 euro collection
with this little new to offer. Waste of money and pure robbery I say. Hate the fact that Chris
has allowed this to happen.

Mr. B., where did you get these two songs? On amazon.co.uk, they wouldn't let me buy them because I'm not in the UK.
