Vargas Blues Band

Post by lilybee »

HI There! :D

I know Chris did some work with Vargas, "The Best of Vargas Blues", (Do You Believe In Love)

"Blues Latino", the video on the home page, was one of the songs Chris Rea collaborated with Vargas
on their 1994 album with the same name.

They are pretty awesome:

(Thanks Jim :D )

Hi Jim and Tina :D

Javier grew up in Argentina but was born in Spain, he also moved to Venezuela and then the US.

(my trayectory is pretty similar!, except for Spain)

Yes, he sounds like Santana when he wants to, but he can also play like Chris.

I think Spain is kind of their home base now, on and off, between Nashville and Argentina.

Hi Lily,
Sorry !! I spelt Javier wrong last time. This is the version from their album Last Night and does not include Chris but its still a fanastic version.Other good songs from that album are Scratch My Back Big Boss Man which I think was sung by Elvis a long time ago Sweet Love To You and Black Cat Boogie. In face this whole CD is fanastic and so is the DVD that comes with it. One of my all time Vargas Blues albums :)

Hi Tina :D

I'm really new to Vargas, but loving it.

Still won't replace Chris though...

Hi Lily,
NOTHING will EVER replace Chris but there are other good bands and musicians. This band would be one of the ones most similar to Chris. That is the guitar style by Javier.

Hi Lily,
Which album did Jim give you ? If you get a chance to listen to a song called 'Walking The Back Streets And Crying' from their Lost and Found album. Its a very sad song.I also have Albert King singing the same song and both versions are good.I got your e mail about tomorrow night.Do you want me to pass it on? :) :)

I'm not familiar with any of this, you guys, I'll need sometime to squeeze them in between Chris' music and everything else I do!

Tina, Jim gave me The Best of Vargas Blues, I guess is the one from 2001.

Hi Tina
Jim Byrnes is a Canadian Blues player/actor (he was in the TV series Hylander -he walks w/canes).
He never really made it big but is quite good -guitar/singer.
I sent Lily his most recent CD -House Of Refuge -which is very Blues Gospel.
I'll see if he has a web site but Lily or I can send you CD.
