Hi Lily,

This song was recorded in early 80s and only released on some local dutch or italian vinyl B-sides, but in1993 it ended up on Espresso Logic CD single if I remember it right.

Thanks Andrew, :D

However, I don't see it listed anywhere on Espresso, or its singles.....

Do you know which Dutch or Italian vinyl B-sides those would be?

Xcuse me Lily, I've mistaken, it's surely not Espresso but Soft Top Cd single, 3rd track of four.
About early vinyls I'm not so sure, but it might have been any single from Tennis or Chris Rea 1981 LP.

   No Andrew, still not there!

I'd already checked Tennis, Chris Rea, Wired, etc. not there either.

I don't know which version of Soft Top you have, but on my single these are the songs:

1-Soft Top Hard Shoulder
2-Melancholy
3-The Van Stomp/Glasgow Horizon
4-Soft Top Hard Shoulder (half time version)

I'm just curious to find where it belongs...

Hi Lily, Andrew and others,

The single Andrew is referring to has three (3) tracks described as: "never previously released, recorded in 1980" and that includes the "One Fine Day" tune.
This is all sleeve information.
The single in question was an "official release", not any bootleg, numbered: 4509 91690-2, YZ 710CD, in France CA711, printed in Germany, by EW (East-West) a subsidy of Warner Music.
I don"t think I've seen it on any CD, though.
Best regards to you all,
Chris in Warsaw

Thank you Chris, :D

I see that "One Sweet Tender Touch" was released on the Chris Rea album in 1981.

"Sierra Sierra" was released on the 12" Single "Let It Loose", 1983, which also had Urban Samurai.

Then, I guess "One fine Day" was only "released" on the Soft Top single in 1992, mentioned by Andrew and Poolie.

Hi again everyone here!

Chris

Are you talkin'bout vinyl release? What is the title track of this single you're referring to?
One Fine Day was never released on full album CD, but it's certainly put on Soft Top CDS.
Moreover, I believ you referring to the info on the sleeve, but there's one amazing thing.
If they say all these 3 tracks belong to 1980, I should say that One Sweet Tender Touch was re-recorded in 1991 for this CD single release while the original recording appears on CR 1981 LP. Sierra, Sierra is re-recorded too, the origin comes from 1983 12'' Let It Loose single B-side.
I'm suspected smth. is mixed up.

Best regards 2 all of you over here,

Hi Andrew and all,

I was talking about a digital "single CD" ("4-track CD single" on the cover.) Right on the cover of it it says: "4-track CD single - includes 3 rare, previously unreleased songs recorded in 1980."
This CD single contains "music from the film 'Soft Top Hard Shoulder'" and aside from the first cut, the other three have been copy-righted by Warner Music 1993!
The title track on it is the "Soft Top, Hard Shoulder" (4.30.)
But, what actually happened, I think Chris was asked to write music for this movie and he used some melodies he composed (and recorded) a long time ago (ten or thirteen years earlier), which was perfectly normal.
What I meant to say in my previous post was: I've never seen any full-size CD with this tune in question ("One Fine Day") aside from this single. It's quite possible that in spite of the information on the 'single' sleeve, it was previously released on vinyl but people have all but forgotten about it.
Take care and don't' forget to watch the semi-final football match tonight (Thursday, June 26!)

Ok, so now Alan got me looking into the 60s Chris Rea :D

I have heard 2 versions of "(I'm A) Road Runner", one on the Motown Mania album (2001) here:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de ... 8&v=glance

and another version has a "live audience" clapping to the exact same song. Where does that one belong to?

HI Lily

I don't know for sure if this the answer to your question but Mowtown Mania was a televised event in the UK and I suspect anyone that recorded the show would have the "live" audience copy. There was also an album released of the songs from the show that did not have audience inclusion so I'm guessing that is the reason for the "two" versions, though of course some of our more informed friends might know differently?
