Post by lilybee »

Hi Everyone,

What a great gig last night, still buzzing from it...:-)

I got some "home made" videos:

I think you can see them on Facebook too, but if you sign up you will be able to see the full features:

Hi All,

As Lily has previously posted, it was a very enoyable concert in a warm and intimate hall. Chris was on stage for about for 1hour 20 minutes with Sylvin back on bass, Martin on drums with Robert on guitar and Neil Drinkwater on keyboards.

I remember the set list as:-

I Cant wait For Love
Looking For The Summer or All Summer Long...(memory lapse)
Where The Blues Come From
Josephine
Easy Rider
I`ve Come So Far...
Stoney Road
Stainsby Girls
Road To Hell
On The Beach
Lets Dance.

It was nice to put faces to some of the names on Barts Forum

Regards,

Peter S...

Behind the guarded walls I used to go
Upon a summer wind there's a certain melody
Takes me back to the place that I know

Well, nothing new, but we didn't expect anything new. Just as I guessed, one of the songs was simply replaced with the new single. Maybe Chris played the old songs in a different way than what we heard in 2006 and 2008? I remember that Julia was different in 2006 and in 2008, for example.

To my ear the old songs were played as they were played in 2008.

Oh well, honestly, I start to doubt if I want to spend $300+ for the tickets in February if the setlist is almost the same. I guess I'll have to wait for the first reviews in January.

Hi Everyone,
Boy was it hot and that was before Chris came on stage. Nothing new apart from "I've come so far" but wow did he give it everything. It was great to see Sylin back on bass and having a laugh with Chris on stage.

Totally agree with Peter, was nice to meet everyone :-)
Regards,
Kevin

Well what can I say ! I was not going to publish the fact that I was there as I know what it feels like to be left out ! But after this show I have to express my thoughts !
I managed to get tickets for my wife Judy and myself with alot of help from a friend (you know who you are ) THANK YOU !!
This is the first time I've had the good fortune to see Chris Rea live in person and what a way to see him !
We were 2 meters from the man himself and the only person in front of us was familychild (it was GREAT to see you there) also srategically located beside Bart & Sheba (fantastic meeting you both see you in Holland).
Tina & Kevin were nearby as was Peter (it was also great to meet and get to know all of you as well).
I noticed Lily had managed to work her way beside the stage where she shot those great videos (way to go Lily -see you tomorrow).
I now know why Chris is so popular -What a performance !
I've never seen anyone play with such passion ! He was everything I thought and more !
It was incredably hot in the hall but no one seemed to care.He gave it his all and must have lost 5 kilos during the show,I know i did.
I know some of you don't want him to play the "old stuff" but for myself I loved it all !
When he played Josephine my wife was moved to tears !I must admit there were moments where it all felt sureal and i was a little choked up myself ! For us to see him it is extremely expensive to travel from Canada but this made all of it worthwhile ! Live, the new song was I think the best I've ever heard and can hardly wait for the CD.
We met some fantastic new friends and I'll certanly return to see him again.
Jim & Ralph (I hope you see this) nice meeting you and Ralph thank you very much for one of the few autographs given ! I could never repay you for that ! Make sure to e-mail me.It was also nice meeting you Simon and please e-mail me.

Just wanted to say thanks to Lilly for the live footage. Really enjoyed it, looked like a great gig. Looking forward to receiving the new album when I return from holiday in Holland.

Great videos Lily :D

Peter's set list is pretty much spot-on, though I think Work Gang was in there near the beginning as well:

I Can't wait For Love
Work Gang
Where The Blues Come From
Josephine
Easy Rider
Looking For The Summer
I've Come So Far...
Stony Road
Stainsby Girls
Road To Hell
On The Beach
Let's Dance

OK so not much new in there but it was a fantastic show! Chris and the guys were clearly enjoying themselves and were really throwing themselves into it. Highlights for me were the new track (though I do have to admit that I thought they were about to play a cover version of ZZ Top's "La Grange" when they started!), Stainsby Girls and Let's Dance complete with "You can't come in.... you're too old.... I may be too small but I'm never too old to dance..." bit in the middle

Oh yes - and there were 3 cameras there (2 on the balcony of the Terrace Bar and 1 by the sound desk on the left) filming the show so I'm guessing that some more video will be along at some point 8)

Thanks for all the comments, photos and videos. It is great for those of us who could not be there in person to get an insight into the great evening and see what you experienced. I hope there will be many more videos of his upcoming tour so that those not able to see him life can get a feel for the event and envisage being there and enjoying the moment with the man.

Hi all,
Thank you for all your comments about the great concert at the Bush Hall in London. Having not been invited we went with my wife to Munich instead, for the annual beer-lovers pilgrimage, the Oktoberfest!
We saw a lot of police there as well as .... Chris Rea's posters on some street corners. [img]IMG_3338.JPG[img]
Take care,
Chris
