The first one is a strange compilation of songs - probably using the re-recorded tracks from 2008 that sound like he made them during a lunch break. Like the compilation "The Definitive Greatest Hits" (what a laugh!) an effort by the Edel-label to make easy money with the re-recorded songs...
The second one is just a re-release of the old best-of - for the first time on LP.
I don't expect anything surprising by one of these record companies...
Yes, the new compilation does include re-recorded verions of the hits plus some songs from the newer albums and some live recordings. I think that the track listing shows the lack of interest. I mean, isn't it at least logical to put "someday my peace will come" at the end of the CD?
Interesting, the edel comp not so, but the vinyl release of 'The very Best of' on his official store must come with his approval I guess, is this an indication of a return to his older stuff, a revisit and perhaps a search of the vaults, I wonder who has the rights now to the Smile album that has been unearthed.Still, all said its positive news, Chris has been seen throughout the year relatively healthy, and hopefully is fit to create some more gREAt music?
Why should the company that owns the rights have to ask Chris first before they re-release a compilation?
I guess they can release whatever they want - and vinyl gets more and more interesting again, these days.
In fact vinyl has been the only format during the last years with growing sales figures - and this might be the reason for this record.
Chris Rea - The Best (CD - Germany) 2018
Why has this release been very quiet, non commercial, limited to only one country to purchase from?
Is it a a legitmate release?
Can't seem to find it in the UK or USA as a import, strange? Only Germany, why?
