Tour Reports 2010Re: Tour Reports 2010Thousands has seen Chris Rea gig in Germany so far and no one is posting set lists or anything else, hard to believe....and I thought Germans are one of the biggest fans of The Man.....so I would think someone would visit this forum.....
Too many good words to add here.
I better just sit back and drink beer.
Re: Tour Reports 2010Lily just posted a setlist in a different topic, I'm sure you saw it

The worst is gone....
My little review of the concert in BerlinLocation: Tempodrom (like 2006 & 2008 before)
Capacity: appr. 3200 (seated) 20:00 Paul Casey entered the stage and played four or five songs on acoustic guitar. Good voice, good playing but honestly I couldn't tell one song from another. Some people yelled: "Who Are You?" (in german) and after the second song Paul introduced himself. Those people didn't want to be rude but hardly anybody knew that there was a support act as Paul wasn't mentioned on the tickets, posters etc. Must be quite frustrating for him. He left at about 20:25 20:40 Chris and the band came on. No surprises concerning the members: Robert Ahwai - guitar Martin Ditcham - drums Sylvin Marc - bass Neil Drinkwater - keys Paul Casey - guitar setlist: 1. I Can't Wait For Love 2. Work Gang 3. Where The Blues... 4. Josephine (fast outro solo - even faster than in '88) 5. Easy Rider 6. Till The Morning Sun... 7. Looking For The Summer (a bit sloppy, but one of my favourites) 8. Julia (great version and last part) 9. Stony Road 10.Electric Guitar (never heard this one before - is it new??? - I like it very much) 11.Still So Far... (awesome version!!!) 12.Between Highway... 13.Stainsby Girls (bits of "Alright Now" and Chris "shooting" with his red Strat) 14.The Road To Hell Pt. 1+2 ("Pinky" again like in good old days) 15.On The Beach (don't like the new chord structure much - but great solos by Robert and Neil!!!) 16.Let's Dance (Neil again with a mind blowing solo) The Concert ended at about 22:30 Some notes: - unfortunately the setlist was nearly the same as in 2008 - Paul could hardly be heard and only played electric guitar - an acoustic touch would have been nice (especially playing "Looking For The Summer") - The sound was great, Chris'guitar maybe a bit too loud - Neil Drinkwater was the real star - his playing was so tasteful - I liked the bass of Colin Hodgkinson better than Sylvin's playing (sorry guys) - I didn't see any merchandising in the hall (maybe the van broke down?) All in all the best concert since 1993 imho - and we all know he still got so far to go...
Re: Tour Reports 2010Hi Tobi
THanks for a GREAT review ! Sounds like it was a good concert ! FYI Electric Guitar is song 1 disc. 4 Electric Memphis Blues -from Blue guitars. I like this song as well. Jim Nothings Happening By The Sea

Re: Tour Reports 2010Hi Tobi
Enjoyed your review! So you are a real fan after all. I had my doubts reading your previous posts but can read between the lines too. You are a 'wind up merchant' if you understand that phrase and can really get readers going! I can hardly wait to see Chris now in March. I loved your detailed descriptions and could just picture the gig in my mind. Chris never lets his fans down at a live performance. Its what he's about and I love him for it. Thanks again Strawberry
Re: Tour Reports 2010Thanks so much for the review Tobi!

Re: Tour Reports 2010Hi Strawberry,
many thanks. "Wind-up merchant" sounds good, although I'm often rather "wound up" And: of course I'm a real fan - that's why I'm so critical about many things. I love Chris' music but sometimes I'm a bit frustrated about management decisions, information policy, dealings with fans...I also think Chris had his heyday in the early 90s - although he IS one of the best live players I've ever seen, no offense! REAgards, Tobi
Re: Tour Reports 2010
That´s what I´m talking about, when you have been fan for long you can be critical !! It´s not the sign of true and real fan if you follow blindly and take whatever The Man offers even if it was crap wrapped around yesterday´s paper !!! People, let´s be brave with our own thougths ! Too many good words to add here.

Re: Tour Reports 2010Hi Jim,
thank you! Must admit I don't remember all 100-and-something songs from BG REAgards, Tobi
Re: Tour Reports 2010....cause only things/people you love can disappoint you
Re: Tour Reports 2010
That's the point - exactly!
Re: Tour Reports 2010Hi,
Don't know if this is posted already, but it's from the concert in Berlin.. Grtz... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjTruCJVBHk "The eyes take on a certain gaze
And leave behind the springtime days Go looking for the summer..."
Re: Tour Reports 2010Just listened to "Electric Guitar" on the "Memphis Blues" CD and now I know why I thought it was a new track. The live version is soooooo much better! It sounds like a mixture of Josephine and On The Beach with some fresh new ideas.
Re: Tour Reports 2010
I think most people here will agree that it's not what The Man is giving us. Even if it was, noone is stuffing it up your throat, so, at least be polite enough not to do it either. If nothing, this kind of talk is suffocating this topic. It's getting harder for people to find important stuff. Oh look out world, take a good look
