Rare pictures of Chris doing TV shows in Germany 1985-1998

Hi everyone,

here is another bundle of rare photos, this time from different TV shows Chris did in Germany (Peter's Pop Show, Einsfestival Kaengaeru, etc.). I do not know which is which in each picture, since it is not mentioned in the pictures description, only the approx. dates given, and I am not really fond of non-live TV shows, but the photos are good.

September 1985, stylish raincoat ))

November 1988, just before the beard, moustache and dark hair

February 1998, I assume it is RSH-Gold awards ceremony from 08.02.1998

I havewatched this video a while ago, I could only stand about 5 minutes and quit, so dull!

However, the video is notable for capturing Chris upon his long period of almost no show at all, owing to his illness and operation in late 1994 and recovery in 1995. Chris has his hair coloured, for the first time since he changed image in 1989. I know no more than a couple of pics of Chris from that short period with dyed hair (by 1996 he was dark again), however, I reckon he also had his hair dyed slightly in late 2000's




The picture with Ferrari 156 F1 Sharknose replica is taken on 25.06.1995 at Goodwood Festival of Speed.

And this picture is taken in the same place and event but 15 years after:

In the last picture you can see his beard is greyish, so I think his hear is dyed.
About this illness of his, wasn't that around 2000? It's what I read most of the time.
He couldn't finish the King of the Beach Tour, is what I mostly have read.

Dear Ann,

Chris's original hair colour is very dark brown which you can see on 99% pictures taken in 1985 or after 1988.

In the dicussed photo his hair is brown, but not so dark as they usually appear.
Look at this picture from Sliverstone 2010, I don't think it is a trick of the light:



About illness. Chris first operation series was in late 1994, which is now in the shadow of his most threatening operation of summer 2000. You can read about it here: http://chrisrea.biz/vox.htm

In fact, Rea ultimately required five major operations after being felled by peritonitis, plus various stomach-churning complications, while holidaying in France in late 1994. In hospital for months, he amassed 100 internal stitches, while his weight plummeted from 14 to nine stone.

This was the major reason why La Passione, which started being recorded and filmed in 1993, was only released in late 1996 (and the film even later, in May 1997).

The latter operation caused cancellation of The Road to Hell Pert II support tour, which was annonced for late 2000. In May 2001 Chris has done some short (1.5 hrs) festival gigs in Germany which was called King of the Beach tour, though in fact it can hardly be justified like that since there were no concerts even in the UK and not a single song from The King of the Beach was played live during that mini-tour.
