OK, nothing really new to me. I guess that Warner determines what he should say about the music part (it's pretty logical, I think). He didn't say so much about the "Best of", but he seemed to mean that there are not so many Best of's if you take a look at the real official ones. Oh well, and what about the Definitive Hits with lunch break versions of the old hits? And, funny, he always critisized people thinking about money but now he admitted that what he loves about "Driving home for Christmas" is the money it brings every year... I mean, I would love something to bring me money every year, but it seems strange that he says different things every time... Sometimes I must admit that I stop understanding him.
Anyway, it was very nice to hear Chris again, I always respect him as a person fighting with the illness (although I find it strange that he speaks so much of it) - and thanks so much for the link!

yes, just finished listening too. He sounds in good spirits, and like you I learnt nothing new, and was hoping for some info on the 2010 release. He did confirm what I had put on another thread about touring, that it is scheduled around his love ofmotor racing.
Still waiting for my deluxe bumdle to arrive :( but maybe it will be here tomorrow. I think he is on radio 2 this week also.

About the illness, I find it strange that the media brings it up each time when something new is happening with Chris. And it´s always done the way like it was the first time they tell about it. Man is sick, it ain´t exactly news anymore....

Well, of course it´s good to get the royalties checks, nothing wrong with that as the job for it is done.
But money is also the only reason to release these best of collections, what could be other reasonable reason for them? And few new songs is the oldest trick in the book when it´s about releasing new albums.

What a great interview. It's really good to hear him so perky...and chatting about what he loves, music, car racing and family...Thanks Chris. By the way saw you ploughing the greenery at Oulton Park at the weekend. Glad you weren't injured. Keep on truckin' mate, and thanks for over 30years of great music. God bless 8)

Hi everyone,

There's a saying: "put your money where your mouth is" and that's exactly what managers around Chris have done. Instead of experimenting with "old" format (vinyl only, earbooks and 'combination' albums) they've settled for less; for only digital formats because one shouldn't try to fight the windmills. That's why he's mentioning the "new technology" and the decision by Warner to "do it right" (why to issue yet another 'best of".)
I'm convinced that Chris returned to Warner for the money to cover his growing bills, especially when his family is giving him the moral support in all these expensive places: Vienna, Milan, Paris and he has to pay for his (obviously) expensive hobby.
There's nothing wrong with it (expensive life, hobby and such) except the music he makes must sell well. Hence: "the best of" with only two new tracks, like a cherry on top. A perfect money machine.
As far as talking about his illness on the radio show (time and over again in every little detail), I think it gives Chris a sigh of relieve to reminiscence about is. For many people, including myself, illness is something we would rather prefer keeping to ourselves. But I can understand others who want to (or "need to") talk about it.
Best regards,
Chris

The financial life of a musician like Chris is limited by his health condition.. so i think he is smart in making the max of his energy to tour and release a greatest hits to accompany the show.. Chris / record company , is probably trying to attract a new audience and " new sales " for what are some great classic songs.. and after seeing him perform at Bush Hall i was taken aback by his passion and energy he gave for a fantastic concert .. Which is great as his music is what keeps him going... and we all benefit from that.

As for all the time talking about his illness.. yeah i can understand that having been in a similar position.
