Giving Chris Rea a Birthday present.(60)

Hello to all members and websurfers.

I am aware that i probably better can talk about this to Bart, but I do not see any harm in this.

In short: I ( and i think we)like to give Chris a present fot his 60' Birthday.

I will donate 10€ to this site and if this initiative will not work it out Bart may keep it for the site.

Bart may know where to send this, so that Chris knows we are still around!

4 march is not so far. More or less money donations are all welcome.

Maybe a more popular member can take this further.

Bye, Chrisreafan

By 'we' i mean most of us. I haven't talked to anyone before it.

My donation isn't accepted yet, but under the conditions mentioned I think it will.

Indeed, not a problem! :D

I agree... 60 already... I remember "decorating" te website for his 50th birthday as if it was yesterday... I have to look up since when this website is online; must be anywhere aound 1999 I think...

I have seen your donation, but I didn't know what it was for, untille I read this post...

And there you are wrong... Since Chris' managament doesn't want to have anything to do with me, I don't have an address. During a tour I have a good contact with his tour manager, but when no on tour, I don't have any contact. :(
If anybody has a good idea for a present and an address to send it to, of course I am more then willing to collect the money, buy the present and post it to Chris. But I think it all starts with a contact address...

Ok, not becoming too sentimental; because I do not want to come of as too familiar; i think it schould have to be something about his dad who passed away lately. If this is too dificult, somehing with inscription "Members of ChrisRea.nl".

We learned about our friend and member that he does not accept paintings. I read an article that he accepted a beautiful wine from a lady. Or something to buy on Ebay about racing like a signed photograph from his hero A.Senna. It can be more presents depends on how much money comes in.

About delivering, you could give it to him by his next concert although he then might be 61.
Wait with buying of presents, if possible, until a couple of days before the concert or until you know he will accept.

My suggestion about managing this little endeavour: Open an account by a trusty, like we all learned the last years, bank and let it get some interest, especially if one has to wait until his next concert.

On the site maybe possible a database with the donations by each individual, if the individual wants it. I personally have no problem with it if a member gives more money.

Something you see, i think on Times Square in NY. The debt of the country, We on the site,if possible. in combination with the database, a real-time account of the total of donations ( i know the interest ismaybe a problem.

Further on a 'button' on the site with text about all this, to make it even easier.

Thanks.

I would donate some 10 USD or 10 EUR too but we have to be sure it's not in vain. I agree that we could collect the money and wait until the tour begins so Bart has a contact with the tour manager. Then we can be relatively sure Chris gets his present. Maybe the manager could even give us an idea of what it might be.

What if we create a poll and see how many members here really would donate something?

About the poll:

Count me out!

Sorry had to make this joke.

About giving money, its not about most people saying "I give some money". But actually giving it.

Lets get this thing started, and give BB (Busy Bart) a hard time! LOL!

Sure, but we need to get an image of how many people are interested.

Ok, but i suggest with the question "Would you donate right now"? or "Do you want to
donate inmediately"?

Then: answers: Yes; re-directed to (legal) text and button to donate.
No, later.
Never.

We have no time to waiste.

Thanks

(maybe i do not react as quick but i still will read the forum and especially this, because i have more to do the coming days.

I agree that giving Chris a birthday present is a nice, thoughtful gesture from his loyal fans, but would he accept it? From what I've read in the past, a lot of celebrities do not accept gifts from their fans. If Chris is willing to accept our present, then you can count me in, by all means.

Maybe it would be best to wait for the new tour dates to be announced so Bart could speak to the tour management. Then he'll collect the money and buy something.
How about an ash tray for a Caterham?
