Introduction

Post by gordon »

I have been a Chris Rea fan for about 10 years or so now.I was introduced to his music by a friend who suggested I purchase a copy of The Road To Hell. I must admit the first time I played it,it did not register. But then I played it again after about a month. From then on I was hooked.I used to go on the net and download tracks from ALL his albums but then I felt GUILTY...this guy is so [EDIT: Please don't use this word] good that I just had to buy the albums. The only ones I have not managed to get in New Zealand are the Blue Street & Hofner Blue Notes albums which are exceedingly hard to come by..everything else I have gotten through our Trade Me site in NZ or through AMAZON UK.There are other tracks which are very hard to find, perhaps tracks that have only ever been released as bonus tracks on overseas pressings, for example I think one track was called Von Tripps?? that I once saw on the old Kaaza site, and the double CD of The Road To Hell And Back which I have never seen released in New Zealand..Anyway this is my tribute to one of the greatest recording artists of the latter half of the 20th century and most underated at that..

My best wishes to Chris & I hope many more great songs to come.
An NZ fan..Gordon.

Hi Gordon,

Welcome to Barts site.

There are various discussions in the forum regarding rare CR recordings.

Regards,

Takes me back to the place that I know

I think a lot of us fans would agree with this opinion.
I hope you decide to stay around and talk with the rest of us who are around here from time to time.

Hi Tina,

I'm still here, I check the forum often but not much activity lately.

Was a bit ill, and plain busy with school and family, not to mention trying to make a living in the midst of this financial madhouse....

Hope everything is well with you,

Lily

Thank you all who replied to my joining introduction.Tina asked if I had a favourite album by Chris. The answer is yes,but the difficulty is it changes on a regular basis. At the moment I am working through the Blue Guitars 11 disc set, again, and the one I thought was the best has changed 5 times & i'm up to disc 6.As I said in my intro, I was set on this path by a friend with the recommendation of buying the Road To Hell and since then it has become a wee bit of an obsession.
Other artists/bands I like are The Moody Blues, who I was fortunate enough to see in New Zealand at long last in 2005,Dave Edmunds/Nick Lowe and a whole plethora of others from Steeleye Span to Queensryche.
Thanks for the warm welcome.
