B Side as Greatest Hit??

Hi Everyone - There are two "Best of Chris Rea" Albums. One from 1994 and the other from 1998. That alone is strange. But here's my question. On the 1998 version there is a song "Lies Become The Truth." This is the only place I can find this song. It's not on any of the mainstrea...

Re: Chris Rea "B Sides and Singles" recordings

Re: Chris Rea "B Sides and Singles" recordings

Well, Tina, we've just come full circle as that's where this whole thread started. Go back to page one and look over those lists and see if you can add anything. That's why I was wondering if anyone had a tune count for the man! How many songs are there?? (recorded, different songs) :? :? Maybe it's...

Re: Chris Rea "B Sides and Singles" recordings

That's part of the mix. I wonder how many versions there are of songs we've never heard of!

Writing that much, there has to be overlap and borrowing. That's also why you can hear bits of one song in another. But it is unusual that he has released so many different versions of Josephine.

Re: Chris Rea "B Sides and Singles" recordings

Lily - I would think for the most part, what he writes is bits and pieces. Song ideas, a melody, a guitar riff, and then he builds and combines off that. He's probably not writing 10,000+ complete finished songs, but if he had, then we've got less than 10% available to us (anybody know a number of di...

Re: Chris Rea "B Sides and Singles" recordings

Chris writes songs every morning, songs ... lots of his songs, lost in Rea limbo.... wouldn't we all love to have some of those unreleased songs.... yeah... I think so...

Lily
If he just wrote one song a day for the last 30 years, that would be more than 10,000 songs!!

Re: Chris Rea "B Sides and Singles" recordings

Hey Lily - No, I did not hear from Bart directly. I came home this evening to an inbox full of automated emails as a result of all the times I tried to log in and reactivate! Somehow they were all clogged somewhere in cyberspace and all broke loose at the same time!! I have never heard Six Up....

Re: Chris Rea "B Sides and Singles" recordings

Hi lily - I finally got an email that let me back in. :D This pause from the site has given me a little more time to listen to some of those B Sides and Single releases. And here's another instrumental for your list - Six Up from the Looking for the Summer Single. I really like a lot of the B Sides....

Re: The Josephines

Hi Poolie et al - Sorry this has gotten so complicated. Looking at the cover you posted, I must say I have never seen that one. All the NLTOWs that I have ever seen are the white covers and say ATCO, New York, USA on them. So you are saying that these are UK/Euro editions? Do the ones in UK/Europe h...

Re: Chris Rea "B Sides and Singles" recordings

Lily - I think the green cover was used for German one too, if that's different from UK. The .de site shows a green cover and Winter Song in the list of tracks. But I stand corrected on the Japanese edition. It is a white cover like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/Auberge-Chris-Rea-3-Bonus-Tracks-CD-MUSIC...

Re: Chris Rea "B Sides and Singles" recordings

Lily - There was a Japan version also with green cover I believe, but did not have Winter Song on it. Had Hudson's Dream, Theme from the Pantile Journals, and Teach Me to Dance. The three soureces that I named above are the only studio recordings of this song that I know of. Looking forward to ML. T...

Re: Chris Rea "B Sides and Singles" recordings

Hi Lily -

Yes. Winter Song is on green label CD/LP, its own series of 'singles' all with CR getting water poured on him from a tuba, and its also the The Best of CR. Hope this helps.

Cheers, Thom

P.S. - Still hopin' for some Midnight Love!!

Re: The Josephines

Hi Poolie -

That's really odd because I'm in the USA and my NLTOW version is YouTube #5 here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrigtWizX7c

Since NLTOW came out after Shamdrock Diaries, I would think the YouTube Version #1 predates SD. :?
