Hello!?

It is sad that this place is so quiet and that there is no news on Chris. Of course I understand his preference for privacy and his illness challenges, but would love to know that he is doing well on the health angle and, musically, would like to hear more about any more Rhino activity or new materi...

Re: Welcome Back

Thought this was gone for good, nice to see it back..and hope activity picks up. No idea how Chris is doing, whether he was well enough to be involved in the recent reissues and whether more will come...still enjoying those five releases. Would love 1981 through 1984 plus Smile, but I doubt we will ...

The "One Fine Day" collection has nothing to do with the "Smile" album.
It's another lost album...
...yes..The Lost Tapes mentioned earlier in this thread. Wonder if Smile will someday make it out too..

Re: new LP and CD this October 18?

Andrey, I remember you writing about this previously unreleased material from an album which I believe was supposed to be called 'Smile'. I guess they are exactly the very songs we were discussing at that time! I wonder whether it has something to do with your efforts or those of that younger frien...

Re: Master tapes for 1982 album "Smile" found again

For Anneke's question, I do not think we may expect any news on an actual release of any old material, since it definitely takes too long to negotiate and the talks definitely have just started. I hope the things come quicker than I reasonably expect them to happen, who knows... Once Warner / Rhino...

Re: Master tapes for 1982 album "Smile" found again

There are three versions of Rod singing Windy Town...the mix released on A spanner in the works in 1995, a different mix that appeared on the belated released Once in a blue moon in 2010 and a Rod and piano only slow version on the Sessions box set from 2009... Great mandolin intro on the faster ver...

Re: Master tapes for 1982 album "Smile" found again

I won't hold my breath....Warner commissioned Rhino records to do a major project on Rod Stewart's catalogue back in late 2007 ( a few years too late) and only about half came out and what did was so poorly promoted that it bombed...thus scuppering the rest of the planned releases. Incidentally, one...

Rod Stewart - Windy Town (piano version)

This on the new 4 cd box by Rod, but even better, it has been included in a single disc 12-track version of 'Rod Stewart Sessions 1971-1998" also coming out at the end of the month.
They must think it's good!

Re: Chris his new double album and singles/tour etc

You can be sure that Warner will not have taken Chris back without some assurances about the new material. They won't want something like Road to Hell II again. If it is to be in his new style, it will not be anything like the last earbook - more like Stony Road or Blue Jukebox. "Accessible" will ha...

Re: Chris his new double album and singles/tour etc
Incidentally, the fact that this is a Warner / Rhino compilation makes me wonder if the complete re-mastered back catalogue might be on the way, maybe 2-disc editions? That's exactly what Rhino did with Elvis Costello earlier this decade.... That would be every fan's dream.
A...

Re: Chris his new double album and singles/tour etc

Rhino are really just the archive division for Warner so it's not really another move of record label by Chris. Rhino actually have a good reputation for managing back catalogues although they do sometimes just do the standard best of's too. [Case in point is the current Rod Stewart reissue campaign...
