La Passione auction

Some interesting news about an upcoming auction.

As far as I can tell from the news, Chris had painted another collection which was then sold on an auction as well.

Re: new LP and CD this October 18?

Andrey, I remember you writing about this previously unreleased material from an album which I believe was supposed to be called 'Smile'. I guess they are exactly the very songs we were discussing at that time! I wonder whether it has something to do with your efforts or those of that younger friend...

Symphonic version of Josephine

A CD compilation of hits from the 80's in symphonic arrangement was released a couple of days ago, including CR's 'Josephine':

Nothing special really, the voice is the same as in the old recordings. They bought it from Warner, I guess.

Re: New comp?

Yes, the new compilation does include re-recorded verions of the hits plus some songs from the newer albums and some live recordings. I think that the track listing shows the lack of interest. I mean, isn't it at least logical to put "someday my peace will come" at the end of the CD?

Hi Andrey,

could you give a track listing for that Lost Tape? I wonder which song on BG CD3 is that old!

Re: The Tour 2017

Well, at least we see what we see on YouTube! Several new songs, very nice versions of Stainsby Girls, Nothing Left Behind and Two Lost Souls. Chris didn't look energetic in Amsterdam, but in Paris he seemed to be enjoying himself, dancing and smiling at the audience.

Thanks for the link! I think it sounds wonderful, just like that 'Moon River' back in 2006

Re: The Tour 2017

The Road Ahead sounded a bit raw, but I agree that it is likely to become looser and more natural as the tour goes on

Re: Chris Rea crooner cover album

A great idea that will probably never come to life. I would also include some of his onw songs in acoustic versions, why not? Like he played 'Fool' on TV with just Robert and Martin.
I don't even mind Mr. Drinkwater if they give him a piano with only two modes: Grand Piano and Fender Rhodes :D

Re: NEW RELEASE 2017 - ROAD SONGS FOR LOVERS!!!

Oh yes, that makes things clearer. Great cover on BBC, I too wish that Chris would do an entire album like this. Thanks a lot for the links!! I finished listening to the album yesterday. Just imagine what a wonderful song 'Beautiful' could be if it only featured real session musicians and one single...

Re: NEW RELEASE 2017 - ROAD SONGS FOR LOVERS!!!

Well, I thought so too, but now I'm convinced that it's a drum machine, it becomes absolutely clear in the 2nd part, and then I realized that it's the same in the 1st part too. Does anyone else feel this way?
